Tokens & Icons – New York City Token Leather Wallet Black

Tokens & Icons was founded in 1991, when Ward Wallau, recently out of hotel school, decided to utilise his entrepreneurial know-how and transform New York City Transit Authority’s “Y-Cut” subway tokens into cufflinks.

And so, this is how the New York Subway Token Cufflinks were born. The first collection by Tokens & Icons, Ward believed the tokens were a logical, and creative way to reincorporate an aspect of the city’s rich history into the everyday life of New Yorkers.

Today, all of Tokens & Icons’ beautiful products are hand-crafted from or incorporate authentic artefacts, including Major League Baseball bats and balls, National Hockey League pucks and sticks, Tournament Players Club golf balls and clubs, typewriter keys and coins. They craft products for consumers around the globe, however, one thing remains the same – they are dedicated to repurposing little pieces of history.

True to the spirit of Tokens & Icons comes this exquisite New York City Token Leather Wallet. These genuine New York Transit Tokens were used by New Yorkers on the subway from 1970-1979.
